HELL’S KITCHEN:
Fallen Angel and Morph Devil cooking Nurdle Soup

The story behind

In July 2022, Dutch artist Dr.Morph! and I started planning a joint artwork against the plastic madness.

In February 2023, Dr.Morph! had completed his part of the work and presented Morph Devil:

Morph Devil
"Sometime in July 2022 I received a request from TrashmaidBerlin to design a kind of devil, the idea arose from an earlier idea of hers that arose because of the plastic madness... of course I thought this was a good idea. It fits perfectly with the street art that I make, many are based on old discarded images which I give a new life in my designs... but more about that in “who is Dr.Morph!”.

Oh well! I collected some junk and let my creativity flow. An old paint roller provided the base, the body for the devil. A ball from the ball pit for the head or helmet. The helmet’s flap is made of a lid. With two old nails as horns. The legs are made from old dowels with spray can caps as shoes The arms come from a broken statue in grandma’s cupboard. Wings are made from an old CD and the tail is made from a straw with iron wire ending with a piece of fork. The whole thing is secured with tyraps and a beer cap from Jupiler.”

After Morph Devil had arrived safely at my place in Berlin, I began work on my part of the piece:

The Frankenstein Angel
In summer of 2022, I found a doll without limbs on a beach on the Greek island of Kefalonia. It must have floated in the sea for a long time, its eyes were just empty holes, its hair tangled and faded. It had been on my shelf since that summer, and now its time had come: It became the mate of Morph Devil, a kind of Frankenstein's monster. With my collection of arms and legs, plastic shards and bottle rings, I created a monstrous fallen angel. Together with the devil, he cooks Nurdle soup in hell’s kitchen and brings disaster to mankind.

The fireplace
The pot in which the Nurdle soup cooks is a protective cap for ice-cream cones, found on a Berlin street. The white plaster is made of plastic lids from drinks cartons. The nurdles in the pot, the ghost rope from which the flames of the fire are made and the straws from which the pot is suspended and which angel and devil use to stir the soup are from Greek beaches. The firewood are fallen twigs from Berlin street trees.
